Secondary School in Piacenza

The new school in the Ex Manifattura Tabacchi area is a distinctive, clear volume featuring two contrasting facades—one facing the city and the other the park. The ceramic linear structure defines a spacious green area complemented by a semi-circular perimeter. Connections with the surroundings are enhanced by two open spaces: an urban pronaos and a landscape themenos, along with the two taller facades. A lightweight textile crown encloses a rooftop field, allowing for more garden space. The architecture is compact and substantial, with a painterly quality achieved through simple opaque red plaster and precise shiny ceramic accents, harmonizing with other historic public buildings in the city.
