The school in a small alpine village, designed in collaboration with Alder Clavuot Nunzi, is based on the principles of proximity and harmonizing with both the built environment and the dramatic landscape. Maloja boasts stunning mountains but lacks a traditional square; instead, the structure carefully integrates itself within the layout of multiple urban and natural open spaces, avoiding the imposition of an autonomous object. The design reflects a cultural interpretation of tradition and transformation: a simple building consisting of two volumes under one roof, reinterpreting the character of plastered buildings in the Bregaglia region. Interior spaces are thoughtfully defined according to their functions, creating distinct atmospheres throughout the school day.
