Cascina Merlata School Complex

The new school relates with the formal principles of this new part of the city in antithetical terms: its compact and dense form contrasts with the openness of the urban blocks of Cascina Merlata. Through this foundational difference, it expresses its public character. In this manner, the school distinguishes itself with its urban attitude: it is structured as an organism composed of three courtyard buildings, reminiscent of the complexity and articulation found in courtyard complexes within historic cities.
